I love science fiction with lesbian characters in them, there's plenty here. I read the first book and was anxiously awaiting this one. Now I have to wait for the next one now. The writing is a little verbose and plenty descriptive, so it took a couple of chapters for me to get into the rhythm but I really enjoyed it.
The story is intriguing and original. Details and characters are fully fleshed out so as to be believable and relatable. I appreciated the varied relationships, which in this created universe never seemed forced or awkward. I am always looking for a book that combines lesbian characters, a good story, and intelligent writing; I rarely find it but these books have it.
These books need to be edited though. I understand what is trying to be conveyed but when the wrong words are used it interferes with the flow of the story. There was one page where Diana was spelled three different ways. Also, the words formally and formerly have quite different meanings; you need somebody to correct this stuff for you!
Still, I very much enjoyed the books and look forward to more.
I loved these two books. The main character, Avara Serros, is one of the most dynamic, interesting and powerful female characters I have ever had the pleasure of reading about. The settings, races and cultures are well fleshed out and totally believable. When I first read about the Vosaia, I found them to be a bit too vampirish for my taste. However, the concept of being Nyeria, and being able to merge conscious minds in a relationship that is spiritual and sexual is unlike anything I have ever read. The only thing to be improved on in this series is the editing. There a lot of missing words. If I knew the author, I would offer to proofread for her. I can't wait for the third book. Maybe she will let me edit it so I can have a look at it early? I am that much into this series. I want to find out what happens to these characters!
